Grimsby is now of course much larger than Laceby, however in times past the Baron of Laceby sent his Army into Grimsby, they took control of the town, imprisoning the high officials in dungeons in Laceby.
The Nags Head Public house was formerly the Nags Head and the Waterloo, and earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as being the two most closely situated pubs in the country.
St Margaret's church (pictured) stands prominently in the centre of the village. The lower part of the tower and the naive date were 11th century with Norman doorway inside the porch. Records indicate a church and rector in laceby since 1172. The Church was substantially restored in the 19th Century and many additions made. |
