This charming and well sought after village had a population of 316 in the 2001 Census. The village has a Riding School and a Public House named The Ship Inn.
The Church is dedicated to St Helen and was built around the 16th century and is a lovely, mainly stone building, consisting of a nave and a square embattled tower which contains the three bells said to be about four hundred years old
The Church is behind a wall of trees, which looks lovely but doesn't lend itself to an easy photograph.
The tower was rebuilt in 1901 at a cost of around one thousand pounds.
The village features an obelisk situated opposite the Church, which was erected in memory of William Smith, who fell from his horse whilst serving as a huntsman to the Earl of Yarborough. He died on 11th April, 1845.
