After the start of WWII the airport was re-constructed by the Air Ministry before closing in 1945.

The six sailed Waltham Windmill, the symbol used for the Infant and Junior Schools and is a regular tourist attraction in the summer. Built in 1880, the mill has an unusual 6 sails.
 
This was the last working windmill in Lincolnshire and is still seen working on milling days throughout the year.
 

The surrounding buildings house many specialist craft shops, a restaurant and a rural museum containing many items of old farm machinery.

 
All Saint's (Pictured above left)is a 13th century medieval church, of which the Victorians restored. A mouse is carved into the choir screen - the 'signature' of Robert Thompson's workshop.
 
One of its rectors of All Saints, Richard Baynes, was implicated in the murder of the Elizabethan playwright Christopher Marlowe.
